Billions Codexery

Mike Prince

A billionaire who wants to run a more ethical shop—and then run for president.

Mike Prince is a billionaire hedge fund manager and a central antagonist in the later seasons of *Billions*. He is portrayed by Corey Stoll. Prince first becomes a major figure after Axelrod crosses the $10 billion mark and wants to go into banking, citing the limits of hedge funds. Their feud begins after Axelrod is snubbed for a magazine cover featuring Prince. Prince later acquires Axe Capital and Axe Bank from Axelrod for $2 billion, rebranding the firm as Mike Prince Capital, where he aims to run a more ethical shop than Axelrod did.

Lore & Background

Prince's conflict with Axelrod escalates after Axelrod damages Prince's reputation by unearthing allegations that Prince exploited his deceased co-founder. In retaliation, Prince agrees to work with Chuck Rhoades to bring down Axelrod. They stage a meeting to discuss marijuana legalization, baiting Axelrod into signing a deal with a marijuana company operating a criminal enterprise. After the CEO is arrested, Axe Bank is held criminally liable, and Axelrod sells his firm to Prince for $2 billion before fleeing to Switzerland. Prince then revamps Axe Capital into Mike Prince Capital. He spearheads an effort to bring the 2028 Summer Olympics to New York City, but Chuck sabotages it by launching an investigation into Prince's committee bribing the International Olympic Committee. In retaliation, Prince convinces the governor to initiate proceedings to remove Chuck as New York Attorney General, which succeeds. Prince then announces his campaign as an independent candidate for president. Wendy, Taylor, and Wags form an alliance to take down Prince, though they are unsuccessful in lobbying Axelrod to their cause.

In Their Own Story

After acquiring Axe Capital, Prince aims to run a more ethical firm. He spearheads a bid to bring the 2028 Summer Olympics to New York City, which is briefly successful before Chuck sabotages it. Upset by the loss, Prince retaliates by convincing the governor to remove Chuck as NYAG. As Prince's behavior becomes increasingly egomaniacal, Wendy, Taylor, and Wags discover he is planning to run for president. They form an alliance to take him down, but cannot convince Axelrod to join them. Prince announces his independent presidential campaign, setting the stage for the final conflict.
